Prayer: Give us 3 Loaves for some Weary Friends

[Over the years, when praying for a Word to give to others, the Lord has often led me to this passage about asking for “three loaves” of the Bread of God’s Word.]

And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me THREE LOAVES;
For a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;
And he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’?
I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

Luke 11:5-8 (NKJV)

So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you.
For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.

Luke 11:9-10 (Amplified)

Lord Jesus, as in Your parable on importunity [persistence] in prayer, I come at this “midnight hour” to ask, seek, and knock at Your Heavenly door. Lord, there are so many people on their life’s long, wearisome journey who are coming by “my house” today. They may not realize it, but they are desperately in need of THREE loaves of bread to be set before them – one loaf each for their body, soul, and spirit.

(1) For their BODY (physical realm)

Lord, Your Word is a Word of healing! And like the bread the angel gave the weary and discouraged prophet Elijah (1 Kings 19:5-8), Your Bread can give supernatural strength and endurance to “run” the race of this life.

So, please confirm the Word of Your Grace with signs following!

“He sent His word and healed them…” (Psalms 107:20 NKJV).

“The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but SPEAK the WORD ONLY, and my servant shall be healed” (Matthew 8:8 KJV).

And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the WORD with signs following. Amen” (Mark 16:20 KJV).

“Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the WORD of HIS GRACE, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands” (Acts 14:3 KJV).

(2) For their SOUL (“heart” – mind, emotions, conscience)

Lord, with the anointing, Your Living Word can be spoken – the Word of Power that heals and binds up the broken-hearted and sets the captives free!

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…” (Luke 4:18 KJV).

People have emotional issues, fear issues, anxiety issues, mental issues. Their hearts and minds (soul) need the Bread of Your Word today. By Your Love and Power, let their hearts be delivered from fears and doubts so that their minds may be sound (healthy) so that, with healed soul, they can FREELY serve You and set all their love and affections upon You!

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV).

“To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days” (Luke 1:74-75 NASB).

(3) For their SPIRIT (our life-connection with God – John 4:24)

Lord, people must have the Bread of Your Word for their spirit – the God-conscious part of their being. Your Word is the only nourishment their spirit needs to be strong and steadfast in their relationship with You. Your Word is Manna from Heaven!

“…that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 8:3).

Your Bread of Life feeds, satisfies, and yet stirs up an increasingly gnawing appetite for more – the appetite for the Word of Your Grace which is the obvious sign that indicates they have been feasting on Your Word! Even as Peter quickly answered Jesus’ question:

“Then Jesus said to the twelve, ‘Do you also want to go away?’
But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:67-68 NKJV).

O Father, this Holy Loaf of Your Word is perhaps the most important. Physical and emotional healing is important. Yet, it is an ever-deepening relationship of love with You which is the fulfilling of the Greatest Commandment:

“You shall LOVE the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
And these WORDS which I command you today shall be in your heart” (Deuteronomy 6:5-6 NKJV).

Dear God, there is such a desperate need for this third Loaf of Your Holy Word to be set before these weary people! Please, let their spirit be fed today that they may ever hunger for more of You!

O Father, please grant me these precious Three Loaves of the Bread of Your Word!

Jesus, at the end of the parable on prayer, You made this statement: “…how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” (Luke 11:13).

O Dear Jesus, I ask You for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit to be poured out upon me as I speak Your Words of Eternal Life. And I thank You for the endless and abundant supply of Your Spirit, knowing You have sent me to speak Your Word:

“For He whom God has sent speaks the WORDS of God; for He gives the SPIRIT without measure” (John 3:34 NASB).

O Holy Spirit, when You anoint the Word, it becomes the “Word of Faith which we speak” (Rom 10:8,17) that produces Faith in those who hear it – and You said that  in those who hear and believe, that same Word of Faith will work “effectually” within them:

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the WORD of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the WORD of God, which EFFECTUALLY WORKETH also in you that believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13 KJV).

So, Heavenly Father, I want to be persistent – and I’m asking, seeking, and knocking, Lord, for three loaves of bread – for body, soul, and spirit!

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (NKJV)

Thank You for Your wonderful Bread of Life – which is exactly what each of my weary “friends” on their long journey need today!

In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
