The Psalms – Singing Through the Gaps
Heavenly Father, I’m so grateful for Your Word, especially the Psalms. It’s remarkable how these ancient words, over 3,000 years old, continue to resonate with me today.
Like a movie score amplifies a film, the Psalms underscore Your truth. They give voice to my full range of emotions—my joys, sorrows, faith, and doubts. They help me bring my whole self before You.
Thank You for acknowledging the “gap” that I often feel—the space between my reality and who You call me to be. Thank You for this precious book that provides me with the language for my journey with Jesus from here to glory.
I remember Your servants like David, Abraham, and Moses, who lived through their own “gaps,” but experienced Your “end” – an “end” that is faithful and blessed:
James 5:11
Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen THE END intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
Help me, Father, to cherish the Psalms as I navigate my own “gap,” trusting You until I reach the wonderful “end” You’ve designed for me. Ever teach me to sing in my “gaps.”
Psalm 73:24,25,28
You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.
Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You…
But it is good for me to draw near to God…
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
