Praying the Promises / Orando las Promesas

The purpose of this blog is to establish a growing list of prayers that utilize the promises of God in a way that inspires prayer in every situation in which we may find ourselves, and that those prayers would be effectual.

Here are two key verses about the promises of God:

2 Peter 1:4
By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature...
2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) said:
The best praying man is the man who is most believingly familiar with the promises of God. After all, prayer is nothing but taking God’s promises to Him and saying to Him, “Do as Thou hast said.” Prayer is the promise utilized. A prayer that is not based on a promise has no true foundation.

Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) dijo:
“El mejor hombre de oración es el hombre que está más familiarizado en fe con las promesas de Dios. Después de todo, la oración no es más que tomar las promesas de Dios y decirle: “Haz lo que has dicho”. La oración es la promesa utilizada. This passage in Hebrews tells us that, by the Blood of Jesus, we have boldness to enter into the Most Holy Place of the “True Tabernacle which the Lord pitched, not man” (Heb 8:2). It also shows us that that is where we are to profess (or confess) and pray the promises of God – “hold fast the [confession] of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

Hebrews 10:19-23
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
By a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 
And having a High Priest over the house of God,
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Este pasaje en Hebreos nos dice que, por la Sangre de Jesús, tenemos confianza para entrar en el Lugar Santísimo del “verdadero tabernáculo que levantó el Señor, y no el hombre” (Heb 8:2). También nos muestra que ahí es donde debemos profesar (o confesar) y orar las promesas de Dios: “sin fluctuar, la profesión [confesión] de nuestra esperanza, porque fiel es el que prometió“.

Hebreos 10:19-23 (LBLA)
Entonces, hermanos, puesto que tenemos confianza para entrar al Lugar Santísimo por la sangre de Jesús,
Por un camino nuevo y vivo que Él inauguró para nosotros por medio del velo, es decir, su carne,
Y puesto que tenemos un gran sacerdote sobre la casa de Dios,
Acerquémonos con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe, teniendo nuestro corazón purificado de mala conciencia y nuestro cuerpo lavado con agua pura.

Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Confess the Promises in Prayer
Dear Lord, You are the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. In every difficulty of this life., You are our Comforter.
I believe and confess this promise. Your comfort is flowing over me this very moment. Your comfort is so overwhelming and abundant that I can share this comfort with all those around me that are also going through difficult times. Thank You for Your marvelous mercies and favor poured out upon me.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

2 Corintios 1:3-4
Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación.
El cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que podamos también nosotros consolar a los que están en cualquier tribulación, por medio de la consolación con que nosotros somos consolados por Dios.

Confiesa las Promesas en Oración
Amado Señor, Tú eres el Padre de las misericordias y el Dios de toda consolación. En cada dificultad de esta vida, Tú eres nuestro Consolador.
Creo y confieso esta promesa. Tu consuelo fluye sobre mí en este mismo momento. Su consuelo es tan abundante que puedo compartir este consuelo con otros a mi alrededor que también están pasando por momentos difíciles. Gracias por Tus maravillosa misericordia y favor derramados sobre mí.

Confidence & Assurance / Confidencia y Seguridad

Philippians 1:6
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Confess the Promises in Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are the Creator; everything You do is very good. Thank You for beginning a GOOD WORK in us through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Your Son.
God, You are faithful, and by Your great grace, You will perfect what you have started.

Filipenses 1:6
Estoy persuadido de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo.

Nothing is too hard for You, Heavenly Father. You love the impossible, and You are a miracle worker! You know the desires and prayers of our hearts.
I believe You are working on a miraculous answer right now, and I give You thanks in advance.

Efesios 3:20

Difficult Times / Tiempos Difíciles

Isaiah 43:1-2
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

Confess the Promises in Prayer
God, You are my Creator and my Redeemer. You alone can form and conform me to be like Your Son, Jesus. You have called me by name and I am Yours.
Thank You for this promise of protection in difficult times. Like Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshack and Abed-nego, You will be with me in and through the fire and flood (Dan 2). Like Job, I confess: “I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Isaías 43:1-2
Ahora, así dice Jehová, Creador tuyo, oh Jacob, y Formador tuyo, oh Israel:
No temas, porque Yo te redimí; te puse nombre, Mío eres tú.

Ephesians 1:3-4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.
Confiesa las Promesas en Oración
Father, thank You for all the spiritual blessings for which You chose me in Christ before the world ever began.
Father, you knew me from all eternity. My new identity is not defined by people, the devil, or even my past failures. You have blessed me with abundant grace to fulfill Your purpose that I may  be holy and without blame before You in love.

2 Corintios 12:9-10
Y me ha dicho: Bástate mi gracia; porque mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad. Por tanto, de buena gana me gloriaré más bien en mis debilidades, para que repose sobre mí el poder de Cristo.

Acts 16:31
So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Confess the Promises in Prayer
Father God, You want all men and women to come to You and be saved, and Your Word says that this salvation is for me and my household.
I believe and I ask You to save my family members and my loved ones. I bring them to You in prayer. Thank You for this great salvation.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Hechos 16:31
Ellos dijeron: Cree en el Señor Jesucristo, y serás salvo, tú y tu casa.
Confiesa las Promesas en Oración
Dios Padre, Tú quieres que todos los hombres y mujeres vengan a Ti y sean salvos, y Tu Palabra dice que esta salvación es para mí y mi casa.

Health & Healing / Salud y Sanidad

Jeremiah 33:6
Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.
Confess the Promises in Prayer
Father God, You are our Doctor and our Healer. Your Son, Jesus, took all of our sicknesses upon Himself on the Cross. One of the Nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit is the Gift of Healings.
I confess this promise, and I believe You are beginning that healing and renewing of health right now.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jeremías 33:6
He aquí que yo les traeré sanidad y medicina; y los curaré, y les revelaré abundancia de paz y de verdad.
Confiesa las Promesas en Oración
Dios Padre, Tú eres nuestro Doctor y nuestro Sanador. Tu Hijo, Jesús, tomó todas nuestras enfermedades sobre sí mismo en la Cruz. Y uno de los Nueve Dones del Espíritu Santo es el Don de Sanidades.

Confess the Promises in Prayer
Father God, You are both Doctor and Healer. Your Son, Jesus, took all our sicknesses in His body upon the Cross, and one of the Nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit is the Gift of Healings.
I confess Your promise for healing, health, and prosperity so nothing will hinder me from being and doing all for which You have created me.

3 Juan 1:2

Dear Father, You are my Helper, my Keeper, my Deliverer, and my Healer. You are the Omnipotent God and I take shelter under Your wings, knowing that “the angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him” (Psalm 34:7).
I believe and confess Your promise for divine health and protection. Though plagues of sickness may be all around me, so are Your angels! And I decree right now: “No plague shall come near my dwelling” – and that includes me and eveyone in my household.

Salmo 91:9-10
Porque has puesto a Jehová, que es mi esperanza, al Altísimo por tu habitación,

Dear Father, “according to Your Name, O God, so is Your praise” (Psa 48:10). Therefore I praise Your Name, Jehovah-Rapha – “I AM your Healer.”
I believe and confess this precious promise based upon Your very Name, Jehovah-Rapha. I believe You are healing me and You are also marvelously protecting me from sickness and disease. I choose to listen and obey Your voice and I will follow You all the days of my life.

Amado Padre, "conforme a Tu Nombre, oh Dios, así es Tu alabanza" (Sal 48:10). Por lo tanto, alabo Tu Nombre, Jehová-Rafa: "YO SOY tu Sanador".
Creo y confieso esta preciosa promesa basada en Tu mismo Nombre, Jehová-Rafa. Creo que me estás sanando y también me estás protegiendo maravillosamente de enfermedades y dolencias. Elijo escuchar y obedecer Tu voz y Te seguiré todos los días de mi vida.

Isaiah 59:21
“As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My Words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth...”

ohn 3:34
For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

Confess the Promises in Prayer
Dear Jesus, by Your Word You have caused me to be born again into the Family of God. You alone “have the Words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
The flesh profits nothing, but Your Words are Spirit and Life! (John 6:63). I confess that Your Spirit is upon me and Your Words are in my mouth so that You can use me to speak Your Word and bring that Life to others.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Isaías 59:21
Y este será Mi pacto con ellos, dijo Jehová: El Espíritu Mío que está sobre ti, y Mis Palabras que puse en tu boca, no faltarán de tu boca...

Juan 3:34

Querido Jesús, por Tu Palabra me has hecho nacer de nuevo en la Familia de Dios. Solo tú "tienes palabras de vida eterna" (Juan 6:68).
¡La carne para nada aprovecha, pero Tus Palabras son Espíritu y Vida! (Juan 6:63). Confieso que Tu Espíritu está sobre mí y Tus Palabras están en mi boca para que puedas usarme para hablar Tu Palabra y llevar esa Vida a otros.

Isaiah 50:4
The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples, that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.

Confess the Promises in Prayer
Dear Jesus, by Your Word You have caused me to be born again into the Family of God. You alone “have the Words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
So many people are starving spiritually. They need Your Words of Eternal Life! The flesh profits nothing, but Your Words are Spirit and Life (John 6:63). Therefore, I believe and confess that You are opening my ear every morning so that as a disciple I can listen and know how to speak Your Word faithfully so that Eternal Life and healing can be given to those that are weary.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Isaías 50:4
El Señor Dios me ha dado lengua de discípulo, para que yo sepa sostener con una palabra al fatigado. Mañana tras mañana me despierta, despierta mi oído para escuchar como los discípulos.

Confiesa las Promesas en Oración
Querido Jesús, por Tu Palabra me has hecho nacer de nuevo en la Familia de Dios. Solo tú "tienes palabras de vida eterna" (Juan 6:68).
Mucha gente se está muriendo de hambre espiritualmente. ¡Ellos necesitan Tus Palabras de Vida Eterna! La carne para nada aprovecha, pero Tus Palabras son Espíritu y son Vida (Juan 6:63). Por lo tanto, creo y confieso que Tú estás abriendo mi oído cada mañana para que como discípulo pueda escuchar y saber hablar Tu Palabra fielmente para que la Vida Eterna y la sanidad puedan ser dadas a los que están cansados.

Identity in Christ / Identidad en Cristo

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Confess the Promises in Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You that I have been born again into Your family. I now belong to You as Your dear child.
I am a New Creation in Christ. Old things have passed away and I am no longer identified by those things.
I am a New Creation and I have a new identity with an eternal purpose that You have planned for me.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

2 Corintios 5:17
De modo que si alguno está en Cristo, nueva criatura es; las cosas viejas pasaron; he aquí todas son hechas nuevas.
Confiesa las Promesas en Oración
Padre Celestial, te doy gracias por haber nacido de nuevo en Tu familia. Ahora te pertenezco como Tu querido hijo.
Yo soy una Nueva Creación en Cristo. Las cosas viejas han pasado y ya no me identifico con esas cosas.
Y soy una Nueva Creación y tengo una nueva identidad con un propósito eterno que Tú has planeado para mí.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Confess the Promises in Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are good, and everything You create is very good, including Your eternal purpose and plans for me.
You are my Creator, and I am the masterpiece of Your hands. You have created and designed me for Your plan of good things already prepared for my daily life. Thank You for leading me in Your paths.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Overcoming Fear / Vencer el Temor

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Confess the Promises in Prayer
Almighty God, thank You for this promise! Thank You for being my Protector and a shield all around me.
I confess this promise. I do NOT have a spirit of fear. I have a healthy mind and You have filled me with Your power and love. In Christ, I am more than a conqueror.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

2 Timoteo 1:7
Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio.
Confiesa las Promesas en Oración
¡Dios Todopoderoso, gracias por esta promesa! Gracias por ser mi Protector y un Escudo a mi alrededor.
Confieso esta promesa. No tengo un espíritu de miedo. Tú me has dado una mente sana y me has llenado de Tu poder y amor. En Cristo, soy más que un conquistador.

I believe and proclaim Your promise of surpassing peace like a river flooding over my heart and mind when I bring all my burdens and cares to You. What a wonderful exchange – my anxieties for Your peace! I rejoice with thanksgiving in this marvelous privilege of prayer.

Father God, my righteousness is nothing but “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6), but I thank You for Jesus who is my righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:30). Heavenly Father, Your mercies and love are fresh and new every morning. You are absolutely good and Your will for me will always be “good, acceptable, and perfect” (Rom 12:1). So I can trust in You forever.
I believe and confess the promise in this prayer for I know that You hear me because I am praying according to Your Word. Please teach me and work in me “both to will and to do” Your will (Phil 2:13), and deliver me from all my enemies.

Father, You are omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and the only and eternally wise God. Wisdom belongs to You alone.
I believe and confess Your promise that as I place my faith and trust in You, You will generously supply me with access to Your wisdom for whatever situation I may be going through. I give You thanks in advance for Your wisdom and the ears to hear it.
