2011: "The Acts of the Holy Spirit"

This “1-Acts-a-Day” challenge (28 chapters, one chapter per day each month) seems to fall in line with what the Lord is speaking as we step out into 2011. Although often referred to as “The Acts of the Apostles”, the Book of Acts could certainly be more appropriately entitled as “The Acts of the Holy Spirit”. I sense that a freshness of the Spirit is being prepared for our lives and for our children for this new year. Three unique puzzle pieces have fallen into place to make this picture easier to perceive. First, without any actual intention on our part, the Children’s Church program which my wife “randomly” chose for the next three months just so happens to be all about the Holy Spirit and His working in our lives. When she brought the program guide book to me, it thrilled my heart as I told her what the Lord had already been speaking to me. This program focuses on the Person of the Holy Spirit, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the importance of the nine gifts. Theme Scriptures will include: Acts 2:38-39 (note: “for you and your children”); Luke 11:9-13; 24:49; Acts 1:5-8; 2:1-4, etc. Secondly, the Foursquare’s Synergy 2011 for pastors and leaders has chosen the theme: “Why I’m Pentecostal” which will be hosted by our church on February 3rd. Thirdly, our church family will be immersed in the Word through the teaching ministry of Dennis Shearer during a 4-day seminar entitled, “The Ministry of the Holy Spirit” which begins on Sunday, February 13. It is so awesome when God orchestrates seasons like this to zero us in on what He has for His people. These are wonderful days appointed by God. May He help us get on board!
