God loves dreamers! When Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, opened in 1974, Mrs. Disney was sitting beside Walter Cronkite, the famous American broadcast journalist. Walt Disney has passed away a few years earlier. Walter Cronkite wanted to say just the right thing to Mrs. Disney, so he leaned over to her and said, “Wouldn’t it be great if Walt were here to see this today.” Mrs. Disney wisely replied, “Walt did see it! That’s why it is here today!”
God really does loves dreamers! The first step of finding our vision is to dream. It is the dreamers that bring about change. Joseph was a dreamer – and a whole nation was delivered out of bondage. God taught Abraham how to dream. “Then He brought him outside and said, ‘Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.’ And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be’” (Gen 15:5 NKJV). God wanted Abraham to have a clear picture of the end result of His promise. In the same way in which God brought Abraham outside of his tent, He needs to get us outside of our personal limitations in order to give us an expanded view of what He is all about.
We are never too old to dream! Listen to what Joel tells us about concerning the Holy Spirit’s ministry in the last days: “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions” (Joel 2:28).
“… old men will dream dreams.” It is never to late to start dreaming! Many people have just stopped dreaming and this is what causes a lack of visionaries. Nothing can happen in our lives until someone starts to dream. When dreaming stops, people lose motivation. One of the very reasons for which the Holy Spirit is being poured out upon our lives in these last days is so that God’s people can begin dreaming again!
“Glory be to God who by His mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even DREAM of infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes” (Eph 3:20 Living Bible).
