“And Joseph dreamed a dream…” (Genesis 37:5) Dreams are strange things as Joseph soon discovered. These dreams birthed purpose into his heart of such reality that he could not keep quiet. Yet, as the wheels of destiny turned, a casual first glance would seem to indicate that Joseph had been sucked into a downward spiral of events. But those events were optical illusions of the first degree! What had the appearance of dragging Joseph down and far away from his dreams was literally the very force propelling him into God’s majestic purpose!
Great caution must be taken to seek for and respect God’s loving hand moving us into His divine purpose. May God help me to beware of those casual, but misleading “first glances”! May His Word be the lamp upon each step I take and the brightening of the path ahead of me so that I never allow the optical illusions of contrary events to persuade me to turn aside from God’s purpose upon my life!
